1. Why did you
choose architecture/ design as a vocation?
In some ways it chose me. I’ve always loved technical type drawing and
the being creative … architecture has given me the opportunity to do
both.
2. Where
did you go to school?
Born/raised in Harrisonburg … Harrisonburg High School, Longwood
College.
3. Where
did you start your career?
Drafting Services and Supplies, April 1987 (yeah, 20 years ~ hard to
believe)
4. Why
did you choose to come to Harrisonburg?
Born and raised, all my
family is still in the area … and family means everything.
5. Is
architecture important and if so why?
Yes, the style sets the
mood/personality for a project from traditional to ultra-modern.
6. What
characteristics define your career? A type of project?, A way of
working? A type of client?
Mostly residential type
projects. I like the
interaction with people one on one and for the residential clients a
house isn’t just a house it’s going to be their HOME.
7. What
do you do when you're not working?
Enjoying my family ~ playing golf, hanging out with friends and family,
etc
8. What
would you be doing if you weren't working at BRDS?
Probably working for
another architectural firm or possibly working on my own
9. Share
a little about your spouse and/or kids and/or pets.
Husband, Donnie ~
married 15 years, he works for the City of
Harrisonburg
, Parks and Recreation Department.
One child, Jonathan, second grader at
Peak
Elementary School
